Our architects had an interesting task: to create a house that would reflect the worldview of the client, and at the same time fit the lifestyle of family’s members. The second challenge was to create a comfortable climate inside the house, despite the difficult weather conditions in Saudi Arabia, as well as to ensure both privacy and beautiful views in a neighborhood in which houses are built so close to each other.
All of the rooms that the customer wanted are taking up 4 floors, and their total area is … m2. Besides common rooms such as bedrooms, kitchens, children’s and living rooms, this villa also has a traditional majlis (meeting room), a gym, a barber’s room, a cinema, staff rooms, a pool in the ground floor, a swing in a green corner and even a children’s slide connecting 2nd floor with a yard!
For the heart protection, we applied several strategies at once: the basement floor partially goes underground, the layout of the rooms and wall materials promote air circulation, all windows and terraces are equipped with sun-protection structures, the site and the roof fragments are landscaped with plants resistant to the local climate.
Facade materials are selected in such a way that the building does not succumb to high temperatures, and the calm color scheme does not only harmoniously combines with the environment, but also retains its original presentable appearance for a long time, despite the large amount of sand and dust in the air.
Windows located one under another, vertical facing slabs and elongated wooden panels are creating the effect of striving upward. It gives the villa magnificence, and dark horizontal parapets on each floor are giving visual stability to the entire composition.
